It is coming to that time in the year when many companies around the world will celebrate the end of the year and Christmas with the annual Christmas party. This should be a time of fun and celebration but it can also be quite a scary experience as you have to be quite careful about what you say and do, especially if you are under the influence of alcohol. In this article I am going to write about some of the things that I have witnessed at these parties, things that I am sure the people would have regretted in the morning.

I live in England and am in my mid thirties, I have been to many of these Christmas parties and have seen some rather strange goings on. The first example happened to be the first Christmas party I attended when I was just seventeen. One of my colleagues at work was called Ian and he was a bit of a jack the lad type or at least he thought he was. Ian tried to get all of the men to go on an all day drinking session but I declined as I have never been very good at holding down my beer.

I arrived at the Christmas party and started to mingle etc. About an hour later Ian and some of the other male workers arrived all rather worse for ware. Ian was especially drunk and was very loud. Over the next few hours Ian continued to drink and was getting louder and louder and seemingly slobbering over all of the women.

Our boss was a lady in her forties who I have to say was a bit of a dragon and very strict. At about eleven o'clock in the evening Ian who was now extremely drunk started to tell this woman exactly what he thought of her, included in his rant were many swear words. I was quite shocked by this, as of course was the boss. To say that this did not do a lot for Ian's career is an understatement.

A few years later I had what in some ways was a similar experience in that a colleague of mine became very drunk. He did not have a go at our boss who was also female but instead tried to chat her up and became quite upset and angry when she, lets say turned him down.

My advice to people who are attending a Christmas party is to go and have a good time but to not get too drunk.
